In this video I show how to start leak seeds from saved seed.
I use mature leaks in soups and stir fries and any recipe which calls for onion. Leaks have a mild onion flavor and are hardy to frost.
Get yourself some seed and follow along this year, I'm going to show case the life cycle. I'd mail you some if I could (not sure if my dirty seed would make it across the USA/Canada border)
It takes two years to go from seed -> seed.
You will gain exponentially more if you let a few plants go to flower on the 2nd year. I left my whole crop to seed last year which is why I have a huge bag full.
The germination process starts the same as onions.
Each tiny black seed will become a large leak if it survives.
I'll be sure to keep people updated but give it a try, all you need is a sunny south facing window and some heat (place on top boiler, refrigerator, or heat pad until seedlings emerge)
Subscribe because I'm planning to showcase the entire lifecycle this year. Buy some seed and follow along!
